Don;t be afraid to beg...

Today i met an old lady while i was parked on the side of the road...
She asked for directions of a particular shop...

At first when i saw her... i said to myself... 'oh here comes another beggar...'
put up my fake smile as she got closer... and responded to her question and went "phew she didn’t ask for money..."

But then i thought... wait a min... what am i truly...?
This Poem is inspired by today's event...

What is a man in the desert.. but a beggar of water to quench His thirst...

What is a man on the streets... but a beggar to feed his belly...

What is a man in any profession... but a beggar to feed his livelihood; his immediate family (his senses) and his further family...

What are our cells, but beggars to be feed nutrients...

A fertilised egg begs the womb to be a child...

What are we... really... if there was no one to give...

if the earth decided not to fruit its trees

if the winds decided not to be free...

if the waters decided not to be clean

if the sun decided not to warm...

Beggars... Beggars... Beggars... !!! we are all beggars to begin with

The sun can be one true giver... atleast...
for it burns itself up to give...

but just like a dying star that it was built from to begin with...

it also begged once before and condensed to a star after the millions of years of begging... begging black matter for hydrogen...

Just like a devoted mother begs the God to give her a good child..

we are only givers when we have something... ALREADY... and hence...
never be afraid to ask.. to beg... to shed your ego; to fall on your feet,
for blessings account for all that exists... and blessings come to the pious.. to the beggars.. to those who belittle themselves...
to those who become valleys.

For what is a vessel but an absence of substance that it wants to carry...

Know what you want to carry.. and be a valley baby... :-)
ALWAYS.. !!!

OK. OK... not much of a rhyming poem... but you get the drift....

thank you my friend for reading me today...

(the picture above is of an African Garden that i would like to have in my backyard...
Plants begging the earth to be buds, then begging time to bloom them... then to wither away in dirt again to be food for the next time of times...)

Know what you want to carry; (know your dream...) and always be pious and beg my friend.... :-) Beg till your heart feels no more resentment... and you will become one with your giver.. ;-)

(I was listening to this in the car then... Nikonn -Sunday)

Ohh ... BTW... did i mention... i travel to Mombasa Kenya soon.. ?

I want to take a trip west to Rwanda after... it was hit by the 1994 genocide and now.. things seem positive...

and well... as Mohandas Gandhi said... "You will only find yourself; by getting lost in other people's work".

I wish he were alive... anyway...

{Smiling...}

Once someone asked him...:

"What will you leave behind after you die..."

And he replied "My livelihood"

What a short and sexy answer... !!!

Lets leave behind a good livelihood...

Peace to you my reader... listen to the track above... (Nikonn  - Sunday)  I beg you :-p

Glad you like my work…
It;s interesting though…
The begging actually stops at a given point… one needs to be aware of this too…
For example… when you realise that you as the beggar is different from the soul/spirit then you actually turn around and become the enlightened one…

Most of the time… the ego is soooo vicious/minute (in sanskrit.. Sukshma/sukshama-taum)… in ascetics… it remains as asceticism.. in Wise people… it stays as wisdom…

So you see… it's really hard to get rid of the Ego… But wait… ONCE you Belittle yourself… that's when things start getting interesting.. ;-)

When we break our EGO… by saying… 'Look at you… there is more asceticism in a cactus then you… for it lives on a single shower of water in a year…”
or .. “Look at you… the trees give oxygen in return for our waste carbon dioxide… without any judgment or bias… then who is a more compassionate..? the tree or the “wise” you…?”

when the ego is BROKEN down like this… then i belive we come truely aware of the spirit that we are… that exists in all.. and hence become truely enlightened people…
Until then… we must BEG; use it;s breaking properties/belitting properties… to break the ego…

Please take a peak at me and Cheynnne fighting/loving over God… :-)

O, Janak, I deeply enjoyed your words!!!….yes..we are beggars.  But once you have tasted the truth of your being such dignity.  A beggar who walks, smiles, gives like a king!  A beggar who lives like a Prince!

I am still singing this morning's blessing - Hari Om, Shiva Om - Shiva Om, Hari Om!  If I am allowed to sing, if I am allowed to dance, then I am not a beggar!  I am blessed with life!

Can you imagine?  I had a dream last nite of being poor beggar!  Sincerely I did.   I shall sink into this reality today…I shall see how much I compromise the fire, the dance - to keep from being a beggar!  A false dignity…

..become the valley today…sinking, no ego.

with love!
from a silent beggar!

Great stuff, I have enjoyed reading this, J.   You know, not much I can add to this, but to say that I love how this universe of ours works.  Oh, I lie. Just remembered…….here is a poem I also wrote on this topic…..(I wrote it a long time ago and more could be added but I think you and everyone else covered it in their comments.)
The Beggar (from Amy Ramdass’ book,  Goddess Thoughts)

He came to my door, one hand outstretched..
I had nothing to give to this dirty wretch..
Instead I was totally annoyed, what a sob..
Why couldn’t the lazy bum find himself a job?

It occurred later to me that I am a beggar too…
In some form or the other I was in the same queue..
I started begging even before I could crawl…
I depended upon the grace of my parents for survival…

My kind of begging came in a disguised way…
Please mom, may I go out and play
I begged for toys to fill my life with bliss…
If that’s not begging, then what is?

In my teens I got even worse…
I begged for the impossible, even a horse
A job was sure to end my begging spree!
Yet I needed teaching favors to some degree…

Parents, teachers, boss, friends, life saviors
All are here for me when I am in need of favors…
Praying to God is also begging in another form
Time to fess up; we are all beggars trying to reform!

Just Me: Yes… a Giver is all the difference between a beggar and a king…
Mohandas Gandhi said something like “Never take your customer lightly.. for he comes to you to give you your daily bread… he does not need you.. you need him.”

Gandhiji always has a Super way of piercing the truth in us… with peace… :-)

Cheyenne : Wow… Did you know that King Janak of Mithila Nagri also dreamed once that he was begging on the streets.. and when he awoke.. he found himself in his castle.. and he quickly went to a saint and told him of his dream.. and asked.. “why was it so real…” and the saint replied.. “neither is the dream real.. nor is this reality that you see any more then a dream - both are the same… ”

Truely… i am Inspired by my OWN name sooo much… He lived like a True Buddha…
Did you know.. that he was a great scholar in spirituality (King Janak i mean.. the one thousands of years ago… :-) that once… saints used to come to him to learn from him about austerity, renouncement, detachment and the truth…
One day.. a saint got jealous and ordered.. “How can you teach us about renouncement and austerity.. when you sooth yourself in the riches and the pleasures of your status…”
King Janak smiled and ordered the guards to get two random man from the streets..
Once in the kingdom.. he ordered them to be beheaded…
the saint out of confusion and remorse to his harsh words pleaded to the king; asked them to be released…
the king said “on one condition; they will each be given a small vessel filled with oil to the rim… if they take this vessel full of oil around my kingdom without spilling a single drop.. then they shall live…; if they spill.. they will be beheaded there and then…”
the 2 people ofcourse had no choice… they were given these small vessels; and out they went…
Now at the same time.. King Janak ordered a party of the whole kingdom..
dance, food, music, all was going on while these 2 were walking amidst the town…
when they returned.. they were asked by the King.. “So.. did you enjoy the party…?”
the two people said.. “What party? we were concentrating on the oil.. that it would not spill.. would it do so.. we would be beheaded…. ”

The king smiled and said to the saint… that is how i live…
i am aware of the play of illusions… yet i am More aware of death… i know if i get too attached to the party.. i will loose my concentration and i will be beheaded for it…

the saint got it.. and felt humbled by the kings wiseness…

that story really does make me feel proud.. that i go through life like that too…
like a Lili on a pond… not part of it,, yet part of it…
Not merged in it… yet merged…

Separate… YES !!!!
ThAT is the word…
that Sexy word that i adhere to… I am Separate from what my mind and body try to entangle me with.. and hence… as such… i am always a valley; begging for more and more tests… more and more breaking of my own frontiers.. ;-)
I break my ego by pounding on my own intellect…
and yes.. like a leaf being crushed between 2 stones (time and illusion)… i see colour…
oohh so beautiful colour…

:-)

I hope i have inspired you somewhat… coloured your cheeks somewhat.. :-)
Your dream sure did inspire me back to me.. ;-)
Thank you kindly Cheyenne.
