Discrimination; a tool to rid the rust off the rough mankind?
Anyway, discrimination has long been part of mankind's existence; believe it or not, we will never rid it while we are alive... if you think you can, read on and I'll prove it to you that you can't...
the soul chooses its womb (mother and father)
the soul chooses its relations (friends, relatives, teachers etc)
the soul chooses its birth place
So if you are born in a Hindu family, chances are that you are taught (according to the west; very strict) rules to abide by that govern the whole society, and if you 'jump over the fence' (figurative speech) then you are automatically discriminated against together with your parents and relatives and all connected to you... are shunned by the your community as the 'wrong doer'.
'Wrong doer”.... lets examine that for a while; an ex-con, is automatically discriminated against the one with a clean record; who is hired instead, if given the choice... no matter how resentful the ex-con is of his/her actions and s/he has chosen to live a 'God fearing' life, but still, s/he will be discriminated against based on his past actions.
My father has this silly way of telling people that they have done wrong by giving them stars…. A green star for something good that one does, a red star for something bad that one does, and a black star for ‘get your act together; or you are fired within a month’.
This small chart hangs at a place where everyone can see… and he has kept people that note down small details of the workings of our site workers like detectives.
for example, if you do something bad, like forget to water the concrete the next day after construction, you get a red star… of course, you can rid the star, my doing 3 good things, so an element of “I did something wrong, however I can fix it, by doing 3 good things; otherwise, people will see me on the chart and giggle behind my back”.
This all sounds very smarty pants; the art of fighting without fighting… Bruce Lee.
I personally think it is very much OK; for other organizations in the local would shout at their employees and cause negativity in the Ora's of both concerned.
Lets jump this mambo jambo stuff... (incidentally, Jambo is a greeting in Swahili :) and directly go to the end...
How do you define discrimination?
Promoting ones own ways and putting down those who don’t….
Could it be that major religions adopted this strategy to improve mankind's progress but in the journey, lost the power of compassion… the various souls like Jesus, Mohammad, Swaminarayan, Krishna, Rama, Gandhi, the list is endless….
And lets not forget the women and Goddesses…
Infact let me start again….
the various souls like Jiv-baa, Ladoo-baa, Laxmi, Sarasvati, Mother Terrasa,; the list is endless, And let’s not forget the men like Jesus, Mohammad, Swaminarayan, Krishna, Rama, Gandhi, the list is endless….
THEY were all for compassion; in fact a saint told me once “Never underestimate anyone, even if a rough at first sight”.
Let’s see this from a scientific point of view…
We incarnate for one simple reason, the quest for eternal love....
(The answer to that quest is God BTW…)
We look for it in places of so called imitations of happiness by the rich and the famous; but the truth is, we will never find it in that… in fact, Lord Swaminarayan said that those who are poor are happy, and those who are rich are unhappy.
I need to say that again:
The Poor are HAPPY and JOYFULL and the r!ch - saD and Unhappy and miserablE
Slowly we shed our egos and wants and desires and reveal the true light that we are… when I say slowly, I’m talking about hundreds of lifetimes…. And so people of the world create societies to guard the self and put down the other, this actually leads to wars and division at the end…
God created something called compassion, and the right amount of it from the right person like one’s acquaintance with a true saint/guru) can burn all the desires and wants of past lives and ego - the back bone of a store house of hay, can be flamed into smithereens with a single spark (of enlightenment).
These times (of the Internet), its not uncommon to find people shedding (genuinely) evil practices like having non-veg food, drinking beer and wine, smoking, ... worst of all – having illicit relationships... all can be stopped and repented for in this life itself... and so, instead of waiting your turn in a long que for a new suit (body) with better accessories (teachers, relatives and parents); the soul in todays world can jump from a lower, worldly dimension, to that of light and beyond... (God is beyond the ether of light – blinding peacefull light... God is beyond that)
But the society I believe is unaware of this 'worm hole', for even when the Lord Swaminarayan was asked by Guratitanund Swami... “what is better of the four...?
to stay in meditation on the divine form of God...
to stay detached and know yourself as soul...
to help the sick and the needy...
to talk on God...”
...and the Lord replied... “to talk on God... that is the best of the four”.
So you see, I always have the word God in every blog of mine... (OMG there will be someone who will actually see to it that I'm not kidding... quickly Janak ... delete this sentence...
Ahh what the heck... let it be... even God has hiccups and throws up someone like me...
So whats the verdict...? Discrimination or no discrimination?
Discrimination; but it should only have 'God attainment' in mind, and should be mixed with an ounce of righteousness and a whole lot-a Love... just like allittle inflation in a countries economic system, its healthy...
for its a tool that removes the rust off the rough of mankind... the question is, do you feel hurt when someone discriminates you... if you do then you have pride in you...
I was discriminated allot also in my younger years... not because I was weak or fat or dum or anything like that... but because I studied in a school that was built by my father... (oh he only gets high grades because his father owns the school) I used to get great marks in English and Math (oh he has this new thing called the Internet at his home... you can copy almost anything of the worlds history from it and calculate the most complex of equations on it – the Internet and the Computer in the 90's; especially in our town was a privilege to the very well known and the wealthy, respectively) and I got my first driving experience when I was 13, (he has a car because his father is rich) and flew a plane when I was 16, (don't worry, it was a cargo one:) and got my collage diploma when I was 18... (I do regret the times when I was in college and was the only one that was 16... all the girls would be fascinated by me, a guy from the coast; I used to wear sandles to collage... I think that was the kicker, but they always kept a distance once they found out how young I was... oh well, their loss... right...?
Discrimination is good, trust me... if you are pure, like a diamond, and someone comes along and speaks ill of you or actions ill against you (polishes you, in short) you will only shine brighter, (and after the discrimination (polish) is done; the dust that is left behind, will be that of diamond particles; that will go with the wind and plant more diamonds.
And if you are rogue, then it will erode you of the same and you will be ray-dioactive with your true light.
if you've ever been discriminated against... for the Lords love has non of that.

thank you for this, discrimination can be very problematic
Thought this might interest you, that I found online: The phrase mumbo-jumbo probably originated from the Mandingo name Maamajomboo, which was a masked dancer that took part in religious ceremonies. In the 18th century Mumbo-jumbo referred to a West African god.
Discrimination seems to be a necessary part of this EarthPlane…
It calls up parts of Oneself for Healing…we have created the illusion of separation for this purpose…to Heal the Ill parts of ourselves.
Who are you Not to be and have all that is Good and Wonderful?
You are a Child of God.
Indeed as Marianne Williamson says…Your playing small does not serve a purpose.
If someone is violating the Human Rights that is bad discrimination.
If recognition and understanding of the difference between one thing and another, which is definition #2 than when that applies, I like to be able to identify, see if there are similarities and then differentiate. Differentiation is a good thing and more survival and helps me decide what is right from wrong and to also not go into a business deal with just anyone.
Every difficult experience, like discrimination, is indeed the way for the soul to learn and become milder. And discrimination breeds discrimination against the very same person that did the discriminating. So eventually, you WILL learn and become more compassionate with other people.
Thank you so much for sharing this message!
In gratitude and compassion, my dear brother
Namasté,
Ilse
Discrimination I feel eventually teaches us what isn't, so we can truly know what is, or should I say remember “What is”.
To see GOD within eachother, for example…I like to practice saying a positive prayer for the homeless I pass by, instead of judgement. And the ones that appear to have everything, instead of wishing I had what they do, I feel grateful and happy for them as well as pray for peace and love in their hearts. (you never know, they may not be happy)
That way I haven't given any energy to negativity, I've actually blessed both, and what I pray for them, I receive ten fold.
If people we judge or discriminate against are happy or sad with their lives, we are projecting negative energy on others, therefore, how can we truly keep unconditional love flowing?
What we project does indeed come back at us.
Thank You and Bless You for sharing such enlightenment my friend.
Much Love & Peace!
~Shereen
I know it's hard to do when we see the wealthy waisting their money, I definitely feel you on that, but I try not to judge.
“Judge not, that you be not judged.” (Matthew 7)

Here is a speck of sand from the sea of compassion,
for the beach of humanity….

Discrimination seems as just another expression of duality.
For life as we know it to exist, and to be conscious, life has to play a double-sided game.
This duality infiltrates every aspect of our lives.
It all seems quite absurd and hilarious and amazing, to me anyhow…
Let the game go on…and as Robert Anton Wilson said - “keep the lasagna flying!” ;-)
cOuld there be the optioN to stop parts of “the gamE” with compassion…..?
cOuld there be a differeNt way to creatE the lasagna or pass it on…..?
could there be ONE kind way, to polish a stone in this sea….?
how powerful could the sea Of humaNity bE?
could our business be… to be ONE?
to be ONE drop, together?

Ariela : My dearest sis - Thanks for reminding me : “Your playing small does not serve a purpose”. You have unknowingly added to the quote by Gandhi on my profile page… or may be you knew it and therefore wrote it ….
Kathy : Thanks for knowing discrimination as “an understanding of two…. seeing the similarities and then differentiating the rough”; indeed, discrimination with allitle righteousness and a whole lot of love will do great thinks for Gods stray children.
Ilse : “Colour is revealed, when leaves of Heena are crushed between two stones.” From a Hindi Gazal (poetry)
Shereen and Melissa : “What we project does indeed come back at us.” Indeed, if we project negativity, it will shine on us too, but I think; like an incense stick has to be lite, for the room to fragrance; similarly, we; the good guys:-) have to burn ourselves so that the room (world) can smell pleasant… our staying silent to the wrong of the rich is like locking away the incense sticks in a box… eventually, it (the world) will start to stink :-)
Janie : Great guy huh…. That's why I love Him so… Here are His words that He wrote himself… you can divide His read over a longer period of time … say 5 a day….for they are many… but worth every letter.
PS. One drop… yes… all religions and even science; are rivers that lead to the common God; the sea… some have meanders and water falls on the way; but baby! (I mean mum-my!) they all leed to the sea by the love called compassion (gravity).
Alex : You remind me of the phrase by Jaya Row in one of her telecasts
“The world is a combination of the opposite equal”. - we should only enjoy the things that come to us but never plan to enjoy them again when they go… for that very thought (planning) reveals the opposite equal of the same…
Wonderful food for thought. I loved the Bruce Lee video and the idea that discrimination is a way to “polish” and “be polished”…. Let the diamonds continue to shine brightly in the face of the ALL MightE !
Namaste :-)
For me, discrimination is being able to distinguish the Middle Way from all that is polarized. The “other” discrimination, that of treating people as being unequal to each other, is in my book what comes when you lose the ability to discriminate the Middle Way in your thoughts and actions. We are all equal (not the *same*, mind you…) and true discrimination is the ability to see that.
beautiful ,once again.. such truth that you speak in everything you have said… I am speechless again at first because I have experienced much discrimintion even from my own family , but you know what I love them anyway , with my whole heart no matter what. You have given me much to think about .. Thank you… You are so beautiful and you shine like the sun shining on a diamond in the sand. .. Hold you in my heart..
Bravo! You've brought much understanding to an often dreaded topic of discussion.
Me too. I understand what you went through in your younger years. I had a similar experiences. For eg. Some of the parents of the poorer kids publicly said that me and my siblings got better grades because our parents were more wealthy!!! Oh well… poor souls….I guess if I were in their shoes, I'd think similarly :(
On this:-
“… the question is, do you feel hurt when someone discriminates you…” Yes…I do. And my solution to this problem is always to put myself in someone's shoes before I unleash my discrimination. Needless to say, I've been doing it less and less. So as long as I don't do it to others, that's all that really matters.
I love this, J. It shines and fill me with light. “Discrimination is good, trust me… if you are pure, like a diamond, and someone comes along and speaks ill of you or actions ill against you (polishes you, in short) you will only shine brighter, (and after the discrimination (polish) is done; the dust that is left behind, will be that of diamond particles; that will go with the wind and plant more diamonds.”
Good one. Sweet awe. You rock.
Amy :-)

So no diamonds… please…. they are very painful to put on, for the other children of God went to so much pain to get them to you… and you know what i said about negativity…. “it multiplies”…. blessings divide…
ok now we dont have the same definition of “discrimination' cuz when i put under my goals i wonna destroy it - i meant to create a society where we r all equal meaning lets say in ur first example we have 2 people: 1 has small boat and 2nd one has big boat which i dont care about it… what i do care is that both of them r equal in terms like enrolling in the same school or entering public library or becoming world president (meaning no one discriminates them according to the size of their boat (or nationality or skin color n so on) in order to let them be part of something
and as we all have diff lessons to learn/teach and as we choose our own family that can best support us on our path - so it really doesnt matter whether we r born in what society calls poor neighborhood or poor family or we choose parents that can build our own school so that we can experience discrimination either as a poor or a wealthy child… the bottom line or the root of discrimination is people feeling disconnected from something different than themselves or their tribe… so ultimately we can destroy discrimination by changing a human heart feeling part of everything n everyone… n it can only happen on a ground roots level in our personal lives… so when i get a wave of energy from people trying to discriminate me i can fight or go to poor me mode or i can send energy n transmute both of our hearts into the energy of one where real equality rules…
