Be the change you want to see in the world

Posted on Jun 22nd, 2007 by crudebliss : Let Lord Swaminarayan Triumph crudebliss
World-in-hand
Mahatma Gandhi said that; his words, like his life style inspires me and many others in this world.

I was watching this documentary on the BBC and a sentence caught me quite by surprise 'apporx 3000 children die every day' many of the reasons being simple things like lack of food, shelter, disease, lastly being neglect.

Assuming that we are the most intelligent species on the planet; we surely need to get our act together when it comes to taking care of our own kind. Elephant calf's that are orphaned by their real parents get adopted by their aunts and sisters and even grandmothers. Similarly, if just one family adopts a child, every day, from today, then arithmetically, in 3000 days, there would be no child dying of avoidable circumstances.

So I pledge today; that if I ever get to settle down, I shall adopt a child from each of the continents, and name them accordingly, I already have names for them:
Greenland - Geena
North America - Nameera
South America - Sameera
Australia - Ausria
South Asia - Seetā
East Asia - Esasia
North Europe - Nora
West Europe - Wendy
Middle East - Mistry
Africa - Africa

I believe that your 'own' children are your own, but those who are orphaned are children of God. I shall teach them the path of enlightenment, the ways to deviate from illusion and most of all, to love God. There is a saying in Gujarati, "A person, who lives for himself might attain this world, but a person who lives for others attains God."
I can't wait for that day when I will wake up in the morning and say to myself, 'I've got to take care of my world today.'

Have a great day; and "Be the change you want to see in the world!"

Wonderful posting!!
Also, by opting out of breeding - by remaining child-free, as i am, we're also helping to free up resources for others, and if the child-free choose to adopt, that's awesome!

By the way, I'm very sure that 3,000 children dying every day is a low figure compared to the actual number worldwide, and if we don't stop having children ourselves and start to adopt, plus fund and promote becoming child-free, birth control, and becoming vegan, the numbers will continue to rise, but worse - the quality of life on our planet, already reeling from the infestation of horrible human overpopulation, not only for the other animals, or the starving children, or the wild places, but for everyone - even those isolated in their oases of plenty - will deteriorate to such an extent that no one will have sanction.
The fires, floods, and environmental toxins have only just begun.
Let's act quickly to inform others and to promote being child-free and/oradopting, at least virtually, being vegan, and going green in all we do.
Remember, too, that it's far more important to green your food than to, say, green your car.
By going vegan - greening your food - you'll be saving land for farming crops to feed the starving humans that otherwise would be usurped for cattle raising and grazing.
Also, buy recycled furniture and clothing - it's cooler, chicer, and Earth-friendly to do so.
Saving trees, saving all our resources, basically treading lightly on our planet, will help to conserve something so that the children born today will have something left of beauty and safety.
Preserve quality of life for all, alleviate suffering, and heal yourself - go vegan, be child-free andor adopt, green your life, and your soul will prosper.
Win-win situations!

wow, do you think you will do that. Do you really acutally have five children already? Well, if you do then that would be a wonderful thing. One thing i would like to change about myself is the fact that I don't  very much for other people. I work with people yes, in my job helping them, but to do more then that. That is something I would like to change in myself- it only takes one step right? jen

Great post!

I've said something similar in a blog also.
I don't know about this “stop having children” stuff, though. People just need to be educated in birth control…And men need to grow up and stop raping women and girls. (had to say it, lol)…they can stop feeling the need to spread their seed far and wide and aplenty…

As artists I know we help set a good example like this in ways we can.  I have helped on The Hollywood Education Literacy project teaching people to read.  The rewards are unprintable as they parallel with my dreams coming true the more I contribute to kids from all walks of life.  This did lead to opening after school study programs funded by one of the ladies that owned an ad agency that I met while helping her child.  Learning and study is the grassroots programs that help educate our children so they don't turn to drugs and other ills in society.  So if someone doesn't want children or wants to adopt or for those lucky enough to have some like me, consider our future - as we will be in it - the steps we do today to help take responsibility for it and mankind.

I am honored to read your blog and will send you any books and tapes free of charge to help forwrd the change.

Wonderful news!    I am in awe…of such sweet kindness….and yes…I happen to also believe that its my responsibility as well to help those less fortunate than me…and that includes spreading awareness of birth control…(I mean that's the reason why it was invented…so instead of all the babies arriving all at once on a planet that ain't big enough for all of us, we can take turns…(I for one do not mind waiting eons to come back to earth…lol…I say that now…but wait until I'm on a more hellish plane of existence…;-)

(Sigh.  We may not even have to resort to birth control…or control of anything…because as far as I can see, there is enough food on this planet to feed every living thing but why this is not happening is the question of the era!!!)

So on that note, I want to say, O Father of Devi Sita in a previous reincarnation…I think you will do a great job being a father to these little beings for they are the true teachers of life and so much more…

Yes.  We have to do what is necessary.  And some day, I just know it, food will be as readily available as  water…because we are earning it now…in so many ways…

So !!

May the solution to this dilemma flow soon…

May your inner sun shine bright enough to give warmth to all the souls you will take under your wing…

With love
Amy :-)

Your goal is well placed and I appreciate it for that reason.  You seem to be a very giving person.  I beleive that there are two ways to help this earth. You help those near you and you can help those far away.  By helping children far away you bring the world a little closer together but only if you make sure to bring each one up knowing where they came from and the history wrapped in their ancestors past.  I wish you many blessings and faith to stay strong on your journey.  What you are thinking is a huge undertaking, blessed.

I must say, that you are quite right, we should look at our own kind first, but i myself was born in Kenya, and so was my father, so in a way, i have great love for my country. Goes without saying, my name is that of a King, “Janak Raja” and a king is supposed to take care of the whole world by spreading righteousness in the same. Punish the culprits and reward the good. I've got to the point where i see bad within me always and good in others, that i think is the greatest attainment i have made till date.

PS. how did you get to my this blog anyway?

OK this has to be a message from God…

Yesterday, while I was scrolling the channels, I just happen to stop on ‘Press TV' and there I saw a man exclaim, in an unusual language; then came the translation, ‘where are the people like Gandhi and ……….(he mentioned a couple of other names, I've forgotten them for now) who will mend this land of ours into ….. and peace….”

He was a grandfather of a small girl whose parents and relatives had all died in the war… and seeing his despair, I thought; …… (it's said that the Iraq war has killed 1.2million)… I actually cannot type anymore, for when lives are counted; especially ‘lives that are lost' that makes me very;…… why….. why did they have to die…

I believe yesterday was a vision for me, and the anniversary (the fifth I believe) of the Iraq war…..

So I typed Iraq in Encarta and found out it was in Middle East i don't think its too late to change my goal from a child of East Europe to a child from ‘Middle East' - Iraq… and I shall name her ‘Mist' a direct translation - is a phenomenon of small droplets suspended in air.

I hope the collective of the cosmos accepts my change…
May the soldiers in Iraq, return Home safely, and my there be peace in Iraq…

Hey J, just taking a step will create the energy and momentum for wider change to take place.
Like I said, you have a captive audience here at GAIA just waiting for fresh perspective on how to be the change… you will serve as an outstanding example to them…

Take your step when your heart - God - tells you to. You have ALREADY inspired me, regardless. I will tell everyone more about my expedition soon to Kenya…

This war is against nature; so nature is going to align things back. just believe darlings. It's gotta happen. In another five years, this will be a different 'looking' world. Watch and see!

Will be in touch. You are in my prayers.

“a person who lives for others attains God.” I love that you quoted that, Janak.

I feel this with all of my heart. As a nurse I have been priviledged to feel this often, because there is nothing closer to God than helping another, and smiling together. Comforting another is the highest form of spiritual enlightenment, in my eyes. I don't feel there is any ceremony, meditation, prayer or ritual more…holy…than participating in “that moment”.

So refreshing for me to read this again. It seems to me sometimes that today's society is a bit too concerned with being “personally” coached, and could stand a bit more team play, at times.

It is fine to search for personal enlightenment and healing at times, but when we focus too much on ourselves, we cannot find other rainbows, heal them, or shake their hands.
In fact, it is best if two…or more…hang them up in the sky together… :)

Thanks for the music, Janak, it makes your blogs extra nice!

Janak, thank you for pointing me to this incredible blog, and also to the dulcet tones of Kelly Sweet! It's been 10 months, the time it takes to gestate a child [I know they say it's 9 months but it's actually 10]. All children are a gift of god; and being in the incredibly fortunate position of being a mother, I can tell you that even the ones I've birthed myself, are ones I feel I have borrowed from the world; not to teach them as much as spend their incredible childhood together, watching how life has unfolded.

Children today–they're a blessing for us; they show us the way, and need very gentle nudges as we help them navigate the material world they are born to. They are souls who know all that we had once forgotten. The best we can do, is not to allow ourselves to be the voice of old energy that first squashed the truth within children and then wondered why they weren't more spiritual, more balanced, more together!— but to be the ear and eyes and heart that allow these children to express their inner truth to a fertile mother-father.

So I wish this blessing on you, Janak, as you go about gestating this wonderful idea. To bring these true crystals together from all over the world, under one roof. Ah!

Such wonderful energies have gathered on this blog, and the voice of Kelly is now singing in Italian as I add this comment to theirs.

It has been exactly 1 year today…. lets see what I have learnt

well first of all, can I just say this out of gratitude to all those who read this, Thank you….

for your time, to read my blogs, support me, and at times make me say 'no' to giving up; those who read these words are part of the good karma that will be generated from my actions.

during the last 12 months; I :

fell in love…

you might know the song

“so let the mountains crumble, crumble to the sea,

let the rivers overflow, it wouldn't bother me,

let the stars go out tonight, coz I can see them in your eyes,

I'm gonna love you, even if my heart would break….

love, …. stayed unannounced, unannounced… and when it was, it was realised with a fear, expectations, complications of the earthly realm, I think it was more like; we had 'different dreams' that ultimately decided the parting, but she still loves me, and I her…. I've become her Jupiter.

playing around in the Gaia ground…. la la la…

“Hello my Llove…”

she was a naughty one…oops a typo… she still IS a naughty one! quite the opposite of me in terms of culture and ways of life, she turned into a vegetarian, offered to sell her house and move to my country; dreams were turning into reality; a small hitch; that of discrimination creped in; I could choose my love or my relatives and family, probably to the determent of myself, I chose the later…. I'd like to say this though, I respect love in any form, it's just in our culture, the parents are prime, for it's written that God is in the form of your parents… (women will love to know that mothers are 10 times more important than the fathers in explaining to their children about God…:-) she still loves me, and I her…. I've become her Jupiter.

just recently, I had this Lady visit our Hotel for a conference … Ironically it was fathers day… well just read the blog: Dreams and Teams.

ooh ooh and I'm incubating an egg…

no silly, I'm using a 5 watt bulb to do that…

gosh the viscosity of silly your mind can go to….

tsk

tsk

our parrots, just recently gave an egg, and I decided to take care of it, since they were neglectful, the task is of course I believe Cosmos sent, for they are together for the past 10 years, but they just decide to have a chick now… ? hidden hand of the cosmos in action.

Talking about the hidden hand of the cosmos….

it even threw in a song that had my name in it…

I love it… especially because of the lyrics….

they mean:

come dance, dance my friend, dance;

Janak, Janak is the beat…

OK ok… enough, I'm getting goose bumps, let me leave it at this…

i love what the Cosmos is cooking… good or bad… it's teaching and guiding; stubborn me…

I Love you all.

Especially you Ariela, Kathy,  Meenakshi, Sherri, Janie, Diana, you all had a 'Divine Intervention' with me & I love you all…..

{smile}

Meenakshi thanks for indirectly saying that I am impregnated with these children… I can really feel it so…
